Wedding Wednesday

True story: my wedding was awesome. In my humble opinion, of course. :)

However, I am no longer a “bride” (sad face) and it would probably be weird if I blogged about my wedding nine months after the fact. Then I thought “Hey this is my blog and I'll do what I want!”

And that, my friends, is how Wedding Wednesday was created. You're welcome.

Look... who doesn't love weddings, amirite? Come this weekend, wedding season begins, for me at least! I've got one in May, one in June, two in September and one in October. I figured I'd blog about my own wedding and then share the deets of all the other weddings I attend! Oh and anything wedding related goes – nothing is off limits. :)

Alright. Less talky, more pictures. I'll keep this one simple and show you a handful of photos from our wedding day. Our photographer Rob Korb is the bomb dot com.

Getting ready.

Just a Few Things I'm Loving...

1. Garnier Frutis Sleek and Shine Moroccan Oil

Where has this stuff been all my life?! My hair is crazy damaged from coloring it all these years: thick, wavy, frizzy but will go flat in a matter of hours. This stuff is amazing. The scent is subtle. My hair is softer, more manageable and doesn't tangle. The best part? I only paid $5.79 for it at Walgreens and I have a feeling the bottle will last forever!

2. Gold Canyon "Beach" Scented Candle

No lie. Best smelling candle ever! My mom's best friend Gayle sent this to me last summer before our wedding (she's a consultant for Gold Canyon). It's about the same size as a large jar from Yankee Candle and I think the quality is so much better. The scent fills our whole apartment without being overwhelmed or headache-inducing. It smells like coconut and sunscreen and deliciousness. And reminds me of our wedding!

3. Long Island Medium

Ughhh I love this show! I know people say she's fake and honestly I don't care. I love that her husband calls her "Theres-er" with his Long Island accent. "The higher the hair, the closer to God." She's such a trip!

4. Bud Light Lime Straw-ber-ita

So Bud Light Lime is one of my FAVORITE beers, especially for summer. I thought the original Lime-a-Rita was pretty good but this one might be even better. Amy and I split a big one Saturday night... it may have contributed to my Sunday morning headache. So gooood.

5. My Husband

Isn't he cute?!

I'm a BRIDESMAID!

Happy Monday!

Over the weekend, Geoff and I went to New Jersey to visit our friends Amy and Leo. (We live in Delaware, but Geoff is from Jersey and that's where a lot of our friends live.) Geoff and Leo have known each other since grade school, so they're totally BFFs. We went on vacay with them a few years ago to Jamaica and it was a total blast. Amy and Leo are getting married in October and Geoff is a groomsman. We are super excited for their big day!

So this happened on Saturday.

And then this happened.

(Oh man she's gonna kill me for posting this).

After a few games of beer pong (in which the girls dominated, natch!) and some more shenanigans, Amy and I ended up outside with her fiancée. (My hubby has a habit of passing out early, so he was sleeping on the couch). We started talking about their wedding and I said "Can I come visit you while you're getting ready on the wedding day?"

A little background:

Amy and I have known each other since Geoff and I started dating (so about 6 years). We're friends but in the last couple months, we've gotten so much closer. Our daily texting is kinda out of control. We quote New Girl on the reg.

Amy has a group of very close friends, so I didn't feel bad or anything when she didn't ask me to be a bridesmaid. I've been through the wedding thing and it involves making tough decisions. Plus she and Leo live about an hour away in Jersey so we don't see each other as often as we'd like. I was just excited that Geoff was a groomsman and I told her I would be there for whatever she needed!

So imagine my surprise when she asked me to be a bridesmaid right there on the balcony! Even though it's a little late to the game, I told her absolutely yes, I would love to be in her bridal party! We have gotten so close in the last few months and I now consider her to be one of my best friends. I think some girls might have been offended, but I couldn't be more excited. I guess I should start looking for a bridesmaid dress!

So then I spent the rest of the night running around their apartment yelling "I'm a BRIDESMAID!" and promptly posted it on Facebook (can't take it back now, biotch!).

(I'm a bridesmaid!! posted on Facebook at 12:48am).

Treat Yo Self!

Full disclosure: I'm very low-maintenance when it comes to doing my hair and makeup. Sadly, curling my hair is “branching out for me.” But I've been so inspired by all the hair tutorials I've been seeing on blogs lately and decided to venture out of my comfort zone by trying out some new looks!

With this in mind, I took a trip to Ulta after work with the intention of buying a decent curling iron. I'm a girl on a budget and I just can't justify spending a ridiculous amount of money on hair stuff. However, I've heard that Hot Tools are the gold standard of hair style tools and I was hoping to find one on sale.

Jenna for the win! I bought the Hot Tools Gold Curling Iron, 1 and ¼ inch barrel – orginally $46.99, I got it for $29.99. I'm not a math whiz, but I think I got a great deal. Plus, I LOVE this curling iron. It is legit – heats up quickly and can hold a curl for hours.

After wandering the aisles, I ended up with a few more goodies. Here's my Ulta haul:

It may not seem like a lot, but I'm not the type of girl to spend hundreds on beauty and hair products. If I run out of shine serum or shampoo, I hit Walgreens and call it a day. It was so nice spending a few extra dollars on myself and in the process, changing up my beauty routine a little!

Among my finds:
Beauty Smoothie 3-in-1 Body Wash/Shampoo/Bubble Bath and Body Crème, both in Coconut Lime Cooler: Smells like Bath and Body Works Coconut Lime Verbana. Perfect for summer! $6.00 each
Vidal Sassoon Comb Set: Mostly I wanted it for the teasing comb. I couldn't resist the price! $3.79
Ulta's Automatic Eyeliners in Charcoal and Black - Goes on smooth and stays for hours. $8.00 each
Eosos Lip Balm in Strawberry Sorbet. $3.49

In the words of Tom Haverford and Donna from Parks & Rec, “Treat yo self!” (Love that show!)

25 Things About Me!

Welcome Back!
Consider this post a mini introduction or a glimpse into my life, if you will.

25 Things About Me

1. I am a caffeine fiend! Iced coffee is my absolute favorite, although sugar-free Red Bull and mocha lattes are also the bomb dot com.

2. I hate flying, although I force myself to do it because I refuse to let my fear stop me from enjoying life. A stop at the airport bar doesn't hurt, either!

3.My now-husband was technically my boss when we started dating. Scandalous!

4. I keep my toes painted hot pink year round because it reminds me of summer. (OPI's La-Pazitively Hot, in case you're wondering).
5. I attended an all-girls Catholic high school.

6. I drive a limited-edition cherry red Kia Soul – rims and all.

7. Currently on my DVR: Real Housewives of Orange County, Vampire Diaries, House Hunters, Hart of Dixie, Parks and Recreation, Happy Endings.

8. Every time I get my hair done, I do something different – a cut, bangs, or color. I get bored easily! I'd rather change up my hair than do something drastic, like get another tattoo.

9. Speaking of tattoos, I have two – a moon and stars on my hip and a shooting star on my wrist. Eventually, I'll get more.

10. The best vacation I ever took was in June 2009. Geoff and I went to Jamaica with our friends Leo and Amy. It was perfect!

11. I danced ballet and tap from the time I was three until I was thirteen.

12. I would love to have breast-reduction surgery. I'm currently a 34DDD and would love nothing more than to cut these suckers right off!

13. Sometimes I wear leggings as pants. I'm not even sorry.

14. My parents got divorced when I was ten...

15. ...the same summer I was diagnosed with Crohn's disease. I had an operation when I was fourteen and thankfully have been in remission since.

16. I drink champagne on the regular because I'm a baller like that.

17. I read books constantly... right now, I'm into memoirs and young-adult books, but I'll read pretty much anything!

18. I have two older half-sisters (Laura and Joanne) and a younger brother (Greg).

19. I love thunderstorms!

20. I'm half Italian, a quarter Irish, and a quarter German.

21. I'm not allowed to drink Mad Elf Ale anymore. I drink one and I am instantly drunk, like crazy embarrassing drunk.

  22. I try to convince my hubby to move to the Caribbean on a regular basis. It hasn't worked... yet!

23. I listen to all kinds of music, but I absolutely can't stand country. #sorrynotsorry

24. I check Facebook constantly throughout the day. I have a Twitter account, but I never tweet – I just follow a bunch of celebrities and news outlets.

25. I change into pajamas or sweatpants the instant I step foot in our apartment. I've always been that way. Comfort is key!

Welcome to The Jenna Chronicles!

Hi! I'm Jenna. It's so nice to meet you! Welcome to my blog.

Meet my husband of nearly nine months, Geoff.

And our dog Utley (who is female and named after Philadelphia Phillies player Chase Utley).

There are a number of reasons why I decided to start blogging:

1. I recently married the greatest guy in the world. We love being newlyweds and married life has been interesting, to say the least.

2. I'm at a crossroads in my life, work-wise. I'm 27 and still unsure what career path I should be walking down. So for the time being, I'm taking temp jobs, which sucks but pays the bills.

3. I'm trying to get in shape. I gained 10 pounds, easily, after our wedding in August. Now I'm working hard to be healthy and lose weight by making lifestyle changes. Which is shitty, for now, but I'm determined!

4. I've always loved to write! I see a blank page of paper and feel the need to fill it. I love the idea of documenting life and what I discover along the way.

5. I anticipate a lot of changes coming up for our little family soon – we might be moving and house-hunting is definitely coming up in the near future!

So please... grab a glass of wine and join me as I blog about married life, getting in shape, fashion, beauty, food, and all the randomness life has to offer!
